A pair is listed only when both contracts ask the same question: the same weather station, day and temperature bracket, or the same coin, price level and closing minute. Weather pairs settle on the same National Weather Service report; crypto pairs settle on different price indexes (see below). New pairs are checked by hand until 100 of a kind have been checked with none rejected; after that the matcher's new pairs of that kind are listed without a hand check, until a pair is rejected. The price difference is Kalshi's price minus Gemini's, in points; prices are the last trade, else the bid/ask midpoint.
A price difference can have ordinary causes: fees on each side, different closing rules and, for crypto, different settlement prices can account for it. Kalshi settles on CF Benchmarks' index and Gemini on Lukka's, so prices can differ for that reason.
